Sen. Toomey: Williamsport Needs a Federal Judge
During a visit to Williamsport today, U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) highlighted the importance of confirming a new U.S. District Court judge to sit in Williamsport.
Matthew Brann and Malachy Mannion, judicial nominees for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, were approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee in July and now await full Senate confirmation. If confirmed, Brann will sit in the U.S. Courthouse & Federal Office Building in Williamsport, where Sen. Toomey held his Tuesday press conference.
“With respect to the Middle District, one of the highest priorities for me is that we have a candidate who is going to sit in Williamsport,” Sen. Toomey said. “This is an important community, an important county.”
Both Sens. Toomey and Bob Casey (D-Pa.) worked together to recommend Brann and Mannion to the president for nomination to the federal bench.
