Safe Streets Task Force Indicts Three for Drugs
Three people were indicted in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania on multiple charges of Distribution of a Controlled Substance following a year-long drug investigation conducted by the Williamsport Bureau of Police and the FBI.
According to police, Officer Kenneth Mains worked with FBI agents as part of a Safe Streets Task Force and obtained evidence that three persons had conspired to obtain crack cocaine in the Philadelphia area and then transport the narcotics to Williamsport. The narcotics were stored, packaged and sold locally.
Williamsport Bureau of Police Chief Greg Foresman reports that the following are under indictment:
- Shakir Lawrence, who is currently in custody on unrelated charges within PA state Correctional facility;
- Nakia Savage, who turned himself in to authorities at the Williamsport Bureau of Police; and
- Christina Johnson, who is still being sought by local authorities.
In a press release, Williamsport City Mayor Gabriel Campana said, “I would applaud the efforts of these fine officers and my command staff for their continued hard work and effort in removing narcotics from the streets of Williamsport. We will continue to do what is necessary to make Williamsport a safer place.”
