Restaurant Review - Barrel 135
My husband, Lou, works for WKSB (102.7 KISS-FM) radio station. Sometimes we get to go to a restaurant in order for him to experience a place to do live radio spots for it.
Tonight we went to Barrel 135 at 135 West Third Street, Williamsport.
Location: Barrel 135 is located where Heavenly Pastaria used to be. The interior has been significantly updated (see photos). An outdoor patio offers outside dining. It sports a bar area along side a dining area. On street parking and the new parking deck next door provide plenty of nearby parking.
Ownership of Barrel 135 changed in April 2010. Chef Jackie Lovecchio has updated the menu and some items have had their prices reduced a bit. Sushi was added to the menu.
The Food: Lou and I were served shrimp tacos, avocado bisque and smoked sausage and clam chowder soups, 135 salad, cripsy-seared chicken, 9 oz. american stockyard steak and an apple flavored pizza frizza. Everything was delicious.
The food was high quality, well prepared and artfully presented. Touches like the home made spicy pickles served with the shrimp tacos make the plates extra special.
Prices include $5 soups, $6 salads, $4 to $15 appetizers, $4 to $12 sushi, $7 to $9 sandwiches, dinners from $16 to $23 and tempura from $3 to $12. They have a $5 Friday martini and other special - call for hours.
The atmosphere at Barrel 135 was welcoming and casual. Our waiter was very nice and informative as to menu items. Chef Jackie came out during our meal for a quick chat and was also very nice.
I'm reminded of things I've seen on the Food Network but had not tasted
locally.
Highly Recommended.
