Morrones Reopen The Pub

WILLIAMSPORT -- Morrone's Pub, formerly known as The Pub, is located on 200 E. Fourth St. Williamsport across from the Lycoming College Recreation Center. Morrone's Pub opened in October and serves an assortment of food, as well as a full service bar.

Walking through the wooden doors at the front entrance of Morrone's Pub, I saw a mixture of people. There were people of different ages and backgrounds. Some sat at the bar, while others sat in the booths that aligned the wall.

The decor is wood with mirrors and beer brand signs posted on the wall, typical of a pub.

There are at least five flat-screen televisions that broadcast sports event, and tonight is was the Olympics.  There is a pool table and other games, which are heavily used.

The atmosphere is relaxed and non-stressful. It is not overly loud, so it is definitely a place to bring friends to talk and have good time. The service is quick and the staff friendly and attentive.

"Morrone's Pub serves a variety of food such as appetizers, steaks, and seafood," said Andy Morrone, manager of the restaurant.

Looking over a menu, I could see he was right. It all depends what the patron wants. The food is moderately priced and there are a lot of options. A sandwich costs around $7 and a steak dinner costs $21. The drinks are moderately priced, as well, and there is a drink special every night.

"From 5-9, the crowed is usually 25 to 40-year-olds and, from 9 o'clock on it is a mix including students from Lycoming." Morrone said.

Morrone's Pub showcases live entertainment on the weekends and karaoke every Thursday. Coming in May, a patio will be erected in front where outdoor seating will be available.

"We are just waiting for some permits to go through," Morrone added.
