Mirabito urges college students to apply for summer PennDOT positions

State Rep. Rick Mirabito, D-Lycoming, today said PennDOT is accepting applications for its 2012 Summer Employment Program.

"The program runs from May through August," said Mirabito. "The requirements are full-time college enrollment for fall 2012, any major. The hourly rate is $11.43 and these employees are utilized primarily for summer maintenance and sign upgrade services. They perform laboring duties in maintenance organizations and at worksites along the highway."
 
Mirabito said candidates must apply online at www.employment.pa.gov under the Student Summer Employment Positions category. The deadline to apply is the close of business Friday, March 2.
 
"The summer employees perform a very important public safety function," Mirabito said, "and they gain valuable employment experience."
