Lycoming County Announces Funding for Community Parks
Lycoming County Government has established a Mini-Grant Program to fund a limited number of community park projects – up to $20,000 each – using a share of the County's Marcellus Shale Legacy Funds. These natural gas impact Legacy Funds were provided to the County for this purpose by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
The County has recently notified municipal officials and is now inviting members of organizations that are responsible for community parks to nominate projects. The completed Act 13 "Legacy Fund" Application may be found on www.lyco.org. Completed applications may be emailed to Bill Kelly, Lycoming County Planning Deputy Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org; faxed to 570-320-2135; or mailed to Planning & Community Development, 48 W. Third St., Williamsport, Pa. 17701.
A candidate park may be owned by a municipality or a community organization, and must be open to and benefit the entire community.
The nomination deadline is Aug. 15. Award notifications will be sent the second week of September. Every project nominated will be retained by the County for future consideration of other funding sources.
