Rita Billets from Watsontown, pictured above (seated) with diabetes educator Kim Wykoff, found that her blood sugar level decreased after 14 minutes of physical activity.
Susquehanna Health and Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania hosted a free health education event at The LifeCenter in the Lycoming Mall on November 14, World Diabetes Day.
Susquehanna Health's certified diabetes educators facilitated an informational session to help participants learn ways to be more active in their daily routine. The information session was followed by the "Big Blue Test," where participants tested their blood sugar level, completed 14 minutes of physical activity, then had their blood sugar levels checked again.
This event was one of many education and outreach events that Susquehanna Health and Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania offer throughout the year at The LifeCenter.
