Junior Achievement’s Young Women’s Futures Symposium Steering Committee Kick-Off
Lewisburg, PA – Snyder, Union and Northumberland counties Young Women’s Futures Symposium steering committee is kicking off its planning efforts for the 2012 event. This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, May 15, at Bucknell University.
The Young Women’s Futures Symposium is a one-day workshop of mentoring, motivation and opportunity for high school sophomores and juniors. The symposium includes speakers, presentations and activities covering personal and career success skills. The young women who participate have the chance to explore the opportunities available to them after high school by interacting with women in the career world.
Students from area high schools are invited to attend the event and local businesswomen volunteer their time as mentors, facilitators and speakers. It is these women from the community who truly make the event a success. They provide guidance and first-hand experience to the young women who attend. Through the support of community businesses, area high school students are able to participate in the event free of charge.
Junior Achievement of Central Pennsylvania, located in Lancaster, PA, is a community based, non-profit 501(c)3 organization, providing in-school and after-school programs for students in grades K-12 across a nine county area (Lancaster, Lebanon, Dauphin, Schuylkill, Union, Northumberland, Juniata, Mifflin, and Snyder counties). JACP makes it real by bringing business people from the “real world” into area classrooms. All programs are funded by individuals, foundations, and the business community.
