Hughesville Marks the Spot for Annual County Fair
“From the farm gate to the dinner plate” is this year’s fair theme for the 141st annual Lycoming County Fair, held in Hughesville from July 15 to July 23.
Thursday, July 14 is Fair Preview. Gates open at 6 p.m.; pay one price of $5 ages 2 and up. Includes all mechanical rides; Fireworks 9:30 p.m.
On Friday, July 15, Open Class Exhibit Judging begins. Buildings open to public after judging completion. Horse and pony arrival deadline 8 p.m.; Sheep and goat arrival by 10 p.m. Hypnotist Michael Blaine appears on the Pepsi Stage for a free demonstration of his hypnotist powers from 7-9 p.m.; Double Figure "8" Racing begins at 8 p.m. Grandstand $10/Bleacher Tickets $8.
Saturday July 16 is Free admission to Antique Tractor Pull 11 a.m.; Youth Lamb Show 5:30 pm. Demolition Derby at 7 p.m. Grandstand $10/Bleacher Tickets $8; Hypnotist Michael Blaine appears on the Pepsi Stage for a free demonstration of his hypnotist powers from 7-9 p.m.
Sunday, July 17 is Open Horse Show 9 a.m.; Beef Blocking Contest 1 p.m.; Cattle arrival deadline 10 p.m. Local talent Bobbi Grieco performs for three shows on the Pepsi stage at 4:30, 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.; Double Figure "8" Racing championship and Imperial Outlaw Demo Heat at 7 p.m. Grandstand $10/Bleacher Tickets $8.
Monday, July 18 is Breeding Sheep Show 9 a.m.; Open Market Lamb Show immediately following. Youth Beef Show 6:30 p.m.; Country Memories Band provides free music on the Pepsi stage at 4:30, 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.; Blaise Alexander Family Dealership Invitational Bull Riding at 7:30 pm., rain or shine. Grandstand $10/Bleacher Tickets $10.
Tuesday, July 19 is Youth Daily Show 10 a.m.; School Day Program in the Grandstand, 10 a.m.; Matt Keiter and the hew Haw Band provide three free shows at 4:30, 6;30 and 8:30 p.m. on the Pepsi stage; Youth Market Swine Show 7 p.m.; Aaron Kelly from American Idol at 8 pm., Grandstand $8/bleacher tickets $8. Bring your own chairs for track seating.
Wednesday, July 20 is Sunset Ice Cream and Senior Citizen Day. Free T-shirts to the first 1000 paid adult (16 and up) admissions with Sunset Ice Cream purchase. $1 off admission for seniors with proof of age 65 and older until 4 p.m.; Free Grandstand tickets to see Ryan Pelton as Elvis (8 p.m.) with purchase at Sunset Ice Cream stores; Youth Goat Show 9:30 a.m.; Open Holstein Dairy Show 10 a.m.; Open Swine Show 7 p.m.; The Tickles provide music for three free shows on the Pepsi stage at 4:30, 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.

Friday, July 22 is Lycoming County 4-H Youth Horse and Pony Fun Show 9 a.m.; Beef Cattle Show 10 a.m.; Youth Livestock Sale 6 p.m.; the annual Dale Wheeland Memorial Tractor Pull at 6 p.m., Grandstand and bleacher tickets $10; BCNU Band performs three shows on the Pepsi stage at 4:30, 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, July 23 is Pony Pulling Contest 10 a.m.; 4x4 Truck Pull Gas and Diesel Classes at 6 p.m., Grandstand and Bleacher tickets $8; local blues band Miz Ida $ the All-Nightas provide three free shows on the Pepsi stage at 4:30, 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.
Free entertainment is scheduled every day, throughout the day at various stages and pavilions located throughout the fairground loop. Two showmen will perform every day: Big Tiny Young and Hall’s Bear Mountain Variety Show will perform at the Muncy Bank and Trust pavilion area.
Amusement rides are provided by Bates Brother Amusement Company who have been providing high quality mobile amusement ridges since 1965 at events throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
