The Dead Elvi A TASTE OF BLOOD (EP)

Spike: What appears to be a novelty parody of Elvis Presley impersonators dolled up for Halloween is really a group of very competent musicians. Drummer Felipe Torres has a resume that includes Carmine Appice’s Slamm, Chubby Checker, Davy Jones, and other notables.

Goth Woman: The TASTE OF BLOOD EP is a follow-up to their 2003 full-length, BUDDY BOUGHT THE FARM. That was like a spook version of The Rolling Stones’ LET IT BLEED. After some personnel changes, the Elvi return with more of a garage-punk-British rock slant. They’re still topical and zany, singing about a “Psychedelic Zombie BBQ” and (how can I resist?) “Goth Girls.”

Spike: In keeping with a Dead Elvi tradition of jamming with the who’s who of showbiz, Bruce Kulick of KISS sits in on a live version of “The Munsters Theme/Peter Gunn.”

Goth Woman: This New Jersey-based band should get out more, but if you go to a Chiller Theatre Convention, that’s where they’ll be, taking no prisoners.
