More than $25,800 was raised at Muncy Valley Hospital’s 25th Annual Invitational Golf Tournament on Sept. 10. Thirty-one foursomes (124 players) participated in this year’s event which was held at Wynding Brook Golf Course, Milton.
Proceeds will be used to support Susquehanna Health’s Project 2012 renovations at Muncy Valley Hospital to convert semi-private inpatient rooms to single occupancy rooms. Some of the benefits of this renovation include providing patients with greater comfort and privacy, preventing the spread of airborne infectious diseases and allowing patients to have procedures completed at their bedside.

The format of the golf tournament does not predetermine and assign teams to a particular flight, but allows the actual scoring of the day to determine the four winning teams. As a result, the place winners were selected as first, ninth, 17thand 25th corresponding to the Championship, First, Second and Third flight winners.

Championship winners included BJ Smith, Jack Spotts, Tom Briggs and Mark Huffman.
First Flight winners included Barry Ashenfelder, Mark Cromley, Richard Day and Robert Lorson.
Second Flight winners included Doug Estock, Neil Hedrick, Tom Schnars and Angela Schnars.
Third Flight winners included Fred Marks, Chris Shaner, Jim Reed and KC Shaner.

Course awards were Closest to the Pin: Bill Woland, Dave Brown, Don Smith, Tom Briggs and Jerry Mahonski; Closest to Line Driving: Erica Craig and John Gronski; Longest Drive: Kate Bower and Fred Marks.

The golf committee was chaired by Dean L. Barto. Committee members and volunteers included Sharon Adams, Rhonda Adams-Freezer, Cheryl Chapman, Troy Detweiler, Colleen Gronski, Myra Hartman, Steve Kelchner, Emily Shelley, Sherry Smith, Valerie Trego, Sherry Watts, Barry Whipple and Cyndy Whipple.
