Ghost Racing at the ELYMCA

July 27, 2010

MUNCY-Member feedback of new exercise equipment at a local fitness center has been nothing but positive, says a facility representative
“People love these,” Kelly Fry, Wellness Director of the Eastern Lycoming County YMCA (ELYMCA) said during a demonstration of one of the four new Expresso stationary bikes, purchased this month by both the ELYMCA and the River Valley YMCA in Williamsport.

Compared to ordinary stationary bikes, the new machines offer a variety of background features and physical challenges, Fry said during the demonstration. One of the features include “ghost racing,” which allows riders to challenge competing riders across the world. WiFi is required for the ghost feature, and Fry said she expected the connection to be by Friday, Aug. 6. In the meantime, riders can still race a “pacer,” or the person sitting right next to them, she said.

Animated graphics also make exercise time feel less boring than traditional stationary bikes, Fry said.
