Don't Miss the 12th annual Juneteenth Celebration

The 12th annual Juneteenth Celebration event will be held in the back lot of Hepburn and Memorial Avenue in Williamsport on June 18th.  The rain site will be Bethel AME Church, 601 Hepburn.  From 1:00 until 7:00 there will be a mix of family fun, music, good food, history and education.  

Our featured speaker will be Rev. (Chef) Ron James, founder of the Williamsport/Lycoming Crime Commission, who will talk on what motivated him to found the organization.  He will, as well, be offering his conflict resolution and anti-bullying advice.  Attorney Jeff Dohrmann of the Reiders, Travis Law Firm will speak on “Employee’s Rights in PA”.  

A presentation, with an explanation of its historical significance, of a stained glass window showing Bethel AME Church’s pastor from 1886 – Rev. J. E. Russell, will be given by art history professor Dr. Amy Golahny.  Also speaking will be State Rep. Richard Mirabito, Mayor Gabriel Campana and Rev. Kenneth A. Burnett.  

Musical entertainment will include the popular retro dance band Groove Train.  A first for the celebration will be internationally known, comedian/ventriloquist Willie Brown and Woody from Atlanta.  Emceeing the event will be Rev. Rick and Mrs. Mary Wyatt.  There will be a children’s carnival, Russ and Marie Reitz’ Gracious Meadows’ petting zoo, C.C. Clowns, an historic exhibit, vendors and more.
