DIMOCK -- Dimock Proud released a video today highlighting the town’s landowners, residents and business owners positive feelings towards the natural gas development that is occurring there. The video is a response to an earlier misleading production produced by out of town anti-natural gas activists and highlighted by CNN’s IReport platform. The newly released video can be found here or on the group’s website located at www.dimockproud.com.

Earlier this year Scott Cannon, a member of the Gas Drilling Awareness Coalition (GDAC) out of Luzerne County, produced a video that claimed to highlight events in Dimock related to natural gas development.

The video was a knowing distortion of the facts in Dimock right down to the claim that its producer didn’t know the residents he was visiting. The video made many claims and accusations, all of which were unsubstantiated, with some even being refuted by U.S. EPA testing conducted this year which has shown Dimock’s water to be safe. Citizens of Dimock, and others, attempted to get CNN to remove the video however the organization took no action.

Anne Van Lenten, Spokesperson for Dimock Proud, offered the following statement regarding the new video:

“Today is a great day for the town of Dimock. Finally, we have a product that actually represents the thoughts of residents here and what is actually occurring on the ground. We remain hopeful that members of the local and national media will provide as much attention to this video as they have the false claims of the litigants and their supporters.”

“Regardless of how the media continues to portray our town the residents here are arware of the actual truth and that is what is represented in this video today. While we would have rather not spent our own money on putting together a video to highlight how beautiful our town really is, the litigants, their allies, and the media advancing their message provided us no other choice.”

The sensible majority in Dimock, those of us not seeking large sums of money in legal proceedings, are ready to reap the real and tangible benefits of natural gas production. No more propaganda, no more lies. We are ready to embrace an industry which has provided opportunity, hundreds of jobs, and much needed revenues into our township.”

Along with educating the public about the real Dimock, the members of Dimock Proud continue to support petitions to U.S. EPA and PA DEP Secretary Krancer urging them to allow natural gas production to move forward in their community.

Dimock Proud was founded in 2011 to represent the voice and interests of the majority of Dimock residents who do not support the action of a very vocal minority seeking to derail natural gas production in the town. The group serves as a community organization that exists to bring residents together and to refute false statements smearing the towns reputation. Dimock Proud was founded by local residents and business owners and can be found at www.DimockProud.com
