Campus organization to host benefit concert
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa- United Campus Ministries of Lycoming College will host a benefit concert from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19 at the Life Center of First United Methodist Church, 2 Ross St., Williamsport.
Admission is free, but a free-will donation will be taken and refreshments will be sold. All proceeds benefit FULAA Lifeline International Cornerstone's Children's Home and The New Community Project.
FULAA provides spiritual support to the people of southern Sudan, as well as sponsoring a children's home. The New Community Project is an umbrella organization for Give Girls a Chance and If a Tree Falls.
Give Girls a Chance provides educational and vocational opportunities for the women and girls of Sudan. If a Tree Falls plants trees and restores forests in Sudan, Guatemala and Ecuador.
Musical acts will include Williamsport's Pine Street United Methodist Church praise band and several student bands from Lycoming College. Various clubs and organizations from Lycoming College will have booths at the concert. Activities for children will be provided.
The concert was inspired by Christian Kochon, a Lycoming College senior who spent his summer doing missions work in Sudan.
