Bonner Sports, RV Announces Vote For Charity Winner
By Bonner Sports & RV
October 2, 2013
Bonner Sports and RV recently announced the winner of its Vote for Charity program. Vying for the top prize of $750 were: The Williamsport YWCA, Journey House (New Covenant United Church of Christ), The Jersey Shore YMCA, Red Cross Disaster Relief, and the Central PA Food Bank. According to Bob Reeder, President & Owner of BSRV, “the non-profits were selected by my employee team. They enjoyed being included since they all contribute to the business’s success and its ability to give back to the community.”
Each non-profit was essentially a winner in that when Reeder set-up this program, he designated that each non-profit would receive a $500 base donation for participating. Then, as a way to increase the donation and add some friendly competition, he pledged to donate an additional amount to the non-profit that received the most votes submitted via ballot at any of the community events BSRV attended in 2013, plus at their retail location on Route 44 North in Pine Creek.
The Northcentral Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross received the most votes. According to Tom Szulanczyk, Chapter Executive, “$750 can provide a tremendous amount of assistance. For example, that can furnish 30 hot meals, blankets, and comfort kits to disaster clients, and provide training for 10 disaster action team members. This donation will help stretch our funding dollars even farther to serve more individuals in Lycoming County. We are incredibly thankful.”
