Austin Dam Disaster Author to Appear at Otto's

Mansfield professor Gale Largey has authored a book documenting the collapse of the Austin Dam 100 years ago.

In 1911 Austin, Pennsylvania was flooded due to the collapse of a dam built to serve the town's large paper mill, killing 72 people, many of whom were trying to save the lives of others. This year marks the 100-year anniversary of the devastation suffered by Austin residents.

Otto’s Books hosts Gale Largey, Mansfield professor, as he shares his research on this historic event. Largey has written “The Austin Disaster, 1911 as reported in the media,” will appear at Otto’s on Friday, Oct. 7, from 5-8 p.m.

Otto’s is located at 107 West Fourth Street, Williamsport.
